The world has completely changed for everyone. This statement hold true even for our beloved fur-babies. If you follow us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably enjoyed all the pictures that have been shared over the years.

Unfortunately, the pictures don’t account for how our fur-babies are feeling, how they’re reacting to all of the changes they’re witnessing, or to the high levels of anxiety that they’re absorbing. They can sense how we’re feeling even if they don’t understand.
In order to keep our babies on the healthier side, we try to keep Josie, Jasper Jr., and Jacob as active as possible for indoor cats. How does one stimulate their animals’ minds when your own mind is in “stunned” mode? Well, at least that’s how we’ve been feeling since COVID19 started! Our good friends at PetSafe Canada gifted our three babies with two new cat toys to help keep them physically active and mentally stimulated.
At first, their reactions were a mix of confusion, curiosity, fear and excitement. I’m not certain who had more fun with they toys? The cats or us?
PetSafe® Peek-a-Bird™ Electronic Cat Toy – has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. Jacob absolutely has fallen in love with this one! He loves it so much that he rarely allows his siblings to play along. He’s even learned how to pull on the feathers until he can bite on them while he brings the entire toy from room to room in search of one of us to turn the toy on for him!! We’ve had many laughs with this.
PetSafe® Dancing Dot™ Laser Cat Toy – also has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. With this toy you can place it on a flat surface or hang it from a doorknob. No need to worry; this laser is completely safe! All three of our babies enjoy this toy. The random patterns keep them active and entertained.
Over the years, our Josie has packed on the weight because she’s a nervous one. She eats her emotions! Josie came to us already with typical signs of an anxious cat. It took us a long time to help her cut down on all of her anxious licking. We knew we were successful because all of her patches of missing fur grew back. Jasper Jr. has an issue with Josie and is always chasing after her. He must have too much energy and Josie ends up paying for it. In the end, she eats to soothe herself. Poor Jacob just sits back to watch in confusion.
It’s not easy to keep one cat on a feeding schedule; let alone all three!

I can schedule up to 12 feedings per day, dispensing from 1/8 cup up to as much as 4 cups per meal. That means both cats and dogs benefit from all of these feeding options.
I love the Slow Feed Setting for Josie because it dispenses meals in smaller amounts over 15 minutes. That means that she’ll no longer devour her feeding in 10 seconds or less!
It’s my belief that I benefit the most (no doubt here) because the Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder holds 24 cups of dry food. I can literally dump in an entire bag of dry cat food and not have to worry about the plastic seal of the bag closing properly, or the fact that the bag was torn when I first opened it, or even worrying about spilling the bags’ contents! YAY for me! Can I get a “YAY” from the pet parents who understand me?
I can schedule the times and amounts of the feedings through the app on my smartphone. After each feeding, I receive feeding alerts on my cell. These are notifications that confirm that the scheduled feeding was completed. The Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder will even alert me when it’s time to refill the food chamber. NICE!!
Do you know what that meant for us? We finally cleared away the dishes of dry food from the main floor and set up the PetSafe® Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder in the basement. It’s conveniently set up close to where we store the bags of dry cat food. We lovingly refer to it as our official Feeding Station! No more up and down the stairs for feeds! I haven’t been this giddy in a very long time.
