News About My Domain #Domain

In just a few weeks my domain will be up for renewal, and for the first time in many years, I will not be renewing it. This does make me sad; however, life continues onward regardless of how we feel about it. As I’ve shared with you in the past, blogging has not been what it once was. At least not for me. Of course the pandemic has made it much more difficult!

To make matters even more challenging, my health and that of my partner’s have kept us on our toes. That teeter-totter feeling is very present and I’ve survived hold-your-breath moments that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. At then end of the day, I have slowed down tremendously and (for now) it’s ok. Yes, just OK.

This doesn’t mean that I will be shutting down the blog. It means that very soon you will no longer find me by plugging in Instead you can find me by plugging in

Thank you for following along, whether you’ve followed My Bits and Bleeps for days, weeks, months or years. I appreciate the love and all of your feedback. I hope to continue to provide you with many more years of posts. I’m not 100% sure if those posts will continue here, or if I’ll end up starting a whole new blog? Whatever the outcome and whatever the future holds, I wish you all the very best.

Much love,

Jeannine (My Bits and Bleeps)

Over the years I have grown very fond of the actor Tom Hanks. It’s not like I’ve ever met him; however, to me it feels like he’s family. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen most of his movies several times over, and he just seems like such a sweet man.

Disclosure:  I received a complimentary copy of this film for review. The opinions of this blog are my own. I’m not a professional in any way but I am a movie fan.

Have you been itching to go on an adventure? Well in spite of being in lockdown mode for such a long time, you can! Just imagine living through all of the challenges present in the West …

Synopsis: Five years after the end of the Civil War, Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd (Tom Hanks), a widower and veteran of three wars, now moves from town to town as a non-fiction storyteller, sharing the news of presidents and queens, glorious feus, devastating catastrophes, and gripping adventures from the far reaches of the globe. In the plains of Texas, he crosses with Johanna (Helena Zengel, System Crasher), a 10-year-old taken by the Kiowa tribe six years earlier and raised as one of their own. Johanna, hostile to a world she’s never experienced, is being returned to her biological aunt and uncle against her will. Kidd agrees to deliver the child where the law says she belongs. As they travel hundreds of miles into the unforgiving wilderness, the two will face tremendous challenges of both human and natural forces as they search for a place either can call home.

Note: News of the World, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, became available on Digital HD from Amazon Video and iTunes on March 9, 2021 and on DVD, 4K and Blu-ray March 23, 2021.

This movie is just under a couple of hours, but it will take you on that adventure I initially spoke of! I’m not so sure that I’d rate it a PG-13 because the amount of violence and disturbing images isn’t much of a concern to me personally. For those that do follow the movie rating system please keep the rating in mind when selecting this movie for your younger audience.

News of the World‘ seems to pay homage to movies of the old West genre, fully sticking to the familiar, traditional Westerns. While the movie is fairly predictable, I found that the actors’ abilities to tell the story far outweighed that setback. While we can dwell on the fact that Westerns unjustly tell a story based on racist one-sided version of the truth; I prefer to look at the fact that the movie was done well and held true to the genre. I prefer to allow myself to go along with the adventure as if were a part of it; the story sticks to the classic western style.

I became enamoured of Kidd and Johanna and how these characters formed a bond throughout this Western Drama. Without diving into the details of the movie, so as not to give any information away, let’s just come out and say exactly what I think. Do I think News of the World is worth watching? Yes! Hanks makes every one of his performances look easy, and Helena Zengal gives an amazing performance as well. There’s nothing over-the-top or flamboyant about the storyline; the viewers get a solid performance within a traditional Western drama. In my opinion, this is enough to peak my interest and I found ‘News of the World‘ was well worth my time.

PetSafe Canada Pet Toy #Giveaway #PetSafeCanada #ad

The world has completely changed for everyone. This statement hold true even for our beloved fur-babies. If you follow us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably enjoyed all the pictures that have been shared over the years.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Unfortunately, the pictures don’t account for how our fur-babies are feeling, how they’re reacting to all of the changes they’re witnessing, or to the high levels of anxiety that they’re absorbing. They can sense how we’re feeling even if they don’t understand.

In order to keep our babies on the healthier side, we try to keep Josie, Jasper Jr., and Jacob as active as possible for indoor cats. How does one stimulate their animals’ minds when your own mind is in “stunned” mode? Well, at least that’s how we’ve been feeling since COVID19 started! Our good friends at PetSafe Canada gifted our three babies with two new cat toys to help keep them physically active and mentally stimulated.

At first, their reactions were a mix of confusion, curiosity, fear and excitement. I’m not certain who had more fun with they toys? The cats or us?

PetSafe® Peek-a-Bird™ Electronic Cat Toy – has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. Jacob absolutely has fallen in love with this one! He loves it so much that he rarely allows his siblings to play along. He’s even learned how to pull on the feathers until he can bite on them while he brings the entire toy from room to room in search of one of us to turn the toy on for him!! We’ve had many laughs with this.

PetSafe® Dancing Dot™ Laser Cat Toy – also has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. With this toy you can place it on a flat surface or hang it from a doorknob. No need to worry; this laser is completely safe! All three of our babies enjoy this toy. The random patterns keep them active and entertained.

Over the years, our Josie has packed on the weight because she’s a nervous one. She eats her emotions! Josie came to us already with typical signs of an anxious cat. It took us a long time to help her cut down on all of her anxious licking. We knew we were successful because all of her patches of missing fur grew back. Jasper Jr. has an issue with Josie and is always chasing after her. He must have too much energy and Josie ends up paying for it. In the end, she eats to soothe herself. Poor Jacob just sits back to watch in confusion.

It’s not easy to keep one cat on a feeding schedule; let alone all three!

PetSafe® Canada has helped us with tackling this difficulty. They graciously gifted us with a fantastic solution!

The PetSafe® Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder helps to control, monitor, and schedule feedings. The best part is that I can do all of it easily through their app on my Smartphone. I can schedule up to 12 feedings per day, dispensing from 1/8 cup up to as much as 4 cups per meal. That means both cats and dogs benefit from all of these feeding options.

I love the Slow Feed Setting for Josie because it dispenses meals in smaller amounts over 15 minutes. That means that she’ll no longer devour her feeding in 10 seconds or less!

It’s my belief that I benefit the most (no doubt here) because the Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder holds 24 cups of dry food. I can literally dump in an entire bag of dry cat food and not have to worry about the plastic seal of the bag closing properly, or the fact that the bag was torn when I first opened it, or even worrying about spilling the bags’ contents! YAY for me! Can I get a “YAY” from the pet parents who understand me?

I can schedule the times and amounts of the feedings through the app on my smartphone. After each feeding, I receive feeding alerts on my cell. These are notifications that confirm that the scheduled feeding was completed. The Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder will even alert me when it’s time to refill the food chamber. NICE!!

Do you know what that meant for us? We finally cleared away the dishes of dry food from the main floor and set up the PetSafe® Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder in the basement. It’s conveniently set up close to where we store the bags of dry cat food. We lovingly refer to it as our official Feeding Station! No more up and down the stairs for feeds! I haven’t been this giddy in a very long time.

Thank you so much PetSafe® Canada.
